3. You do not need to shave your eyebrows before embroidery

6. If it’s too painful, you can ask for more numbing cream

If you have a low pain threshold, you may feel the sharp pain from the embroidery needle. This is especially so after the first pass as the therapist moves to the second or third pass. When this happens, you can request for more numbing cream to be applied. Bear in mind that this might extend or prolong the treatment, as you will need to wear for the effect of the numbing cream to take place.

7. The brows will look darker initially and then fade out gradually 

Right after your eyebrow embroidery, that tattooed on colour will look much darker than what you expect. This is normal as the dye or ink is still fresh on the skin surface. Once the brow areas heal and recover, your brows will look more natural. This will usually take about a week or so. Depending on how your skin heal, sometimes the brow colour or tone may look uneven. 8. Be prepared to spend a few hours for the brow treatment

The entire treatment, from consultation to the actual eyebrow embroidery, should take about two or three hours. If the therapist tells you that it will only take half an hour, you might want to consider another therapist. This is because a good therapist will take a great amount of time helping to shape and draw your desired brow, and take measurements carefully to ensure that there is a good symmetry in both your brows. The actual embroidery usually takes less than an hour.

9. Do not wash your brows post-treatment 

As it will take a while for the dye or ink to settle in the brows, it is imperative not to wash your brows with water. When you are showering, please remember not to allow your shampoo or facial foam get in contact with your brows, as they will affect and impact the tone and darkness of your eyebrows. Ideally, do not allow any water, lotion, soap or makeup touch your eyebrow area during the first 7 days of your procedure. 

Advice: Protect your brows from water and other cleansers

10. Do not pick, peel or scratch the brow after treatment

After the eyebrow embroidery treatment, your brow areas might be feeling slightly raw due to the microblading injuries sustained. Sometimes, the brow area might itch, thereby causing you to touch or even scratch your brow area. As the area heals, scabs might also form, and this might cause some irritation or itch to you. Do not be tempted to pick, peel or scratch the brow areas as this will cause unevenness of tone or darkness.

11. Use an antibacterial ointment if necessary

12. Don’t be overly unrealistic about the results

You might be expecting the brows of your favourite supermodel, but it might take a few appointments before you can achieve your ideal brows. You must keep in mind that brow microblading is a two-step process. Microneedling is only semi-permanent, and you may not see the full results after just one treatment. While the strokes are very sharp initially, it will soften and migrate into the skin over time. With this in mind, you should expect other factors which may impact the outcome of the treatment.

13. Don’t overdo it! 

While it is safe to get a treatment every 30 days or so, the ideal time frame for treatment would be once every year, depending on how fast your skin heals. Generally, the result can last from between eight to eighteen months.
