1. Galaxy Mooncakes by Rachelrax

The ‘galaxy’-styled pastries are back! Have a piece of the night sky on your mooncake from this formidable home-based bakery of 27-year-old Rachel Ng. A spin-off from her signature Galaxy Glazed Cake, Rachel has been serving the mooncakes since 2017.

The Rachelrax Galaxy Mooncakes are topped with a colourful glaze made of corn syrup, food colourings, and melted white chocolate. Its fillings take on a more contemporary inspiration, where the texture is lighter reminiscent of mousse. 

The flavours you can choose from range from the age-old classics to the modern favourites. Delect in flavours such as  Black Sesame Lotus with Sesame Peanut, Lotus with Salted Egg, Honey Purple Sweet Potato Lotus with Taro, Yuzu Lotus with Lemon Curd, and even Mao Shan Wang Durian.

2. Lava Mooncakes by Hong Kong Mei Xin

The Rachelrax Galaxy Mooncakes are topped with a colourful glaze made of corn syrup, food colourings, and melted white chocolate. Its fillings take on a more contemporary inspiration, where the texture is lighter reminiscent of mousse. 

These are icons of the award-winning mooncake company Hong Kong Mei Xin. With the double-baked technique, these mooncakes will be oozing goodness the moment you slice them open, filling the air with an aroma that’s nothing short of heavenly. 

Signature flavours include the Lava Caramel Macchiato, Lava Chocolate, and Lava Custard. This year they’ve added a new one to the list: Lava Cheese – a gentle savoury affair consisting of the Northern Europe Gouda Cheese infused with rich nuts flavours.

3. Lapis Mooncakes by The Lapis Place

The Lapis Place is probably the last place you’d go to find mooncakes. Infuse the charming flavours and colours of kueh lapis into the classic mooncake experience with their freshly made, one-of-a-kind Lapis Mooncakes.

They include the earthy flavours Cempedak, Pandan, and Earl Grey. If you want to make this Mid-Autumn Festivals more vibrant, their Rainbow Lapis Mooncakes will be perfect.

4. Zhen Wei Mooncakes by 1A Crispy Puffs

The traditional baked mooncakes that we eat every Mid-Autumn Festival comes in more than one iteration. Presenting: the traditional Teochew-style Yam Mooncakes! The fillings inside these mooncakes are usually made of thick yam paste, with or without egg yolk. What’s unique about traditional Teochew mooncakes is that its fried, rather than baked. That’s why there’s a crispy golden spiral shell surrounding the fillings.

5. Baked Mooncakes by Origin + Bloom

Add a French twist to you Mid Autumn Festival this year. These mooncakes are expertly crafted by Executive Pastry Chef Antonio Benites over at Origin + Bloom, the café/signature restaurant of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. They’re made with buttery puff pastry inspired by French pastry-making, so they have a crumbly texture to it.

The mooncake flavours include Baked Azuki Mooncake and Baked Cempedak Mooncake. For a more decadent adventure, try their Chocolate-covered Black Sesame Mooncake and Chocolate-covered Sweet Potato Mooncake, with the chocolate made from Araguani 72% dark chocolate.
