Top 10 Best Eats at Ang Mo Kio Central Food Centre
Located in the residential heartlands, Ang Mo Kio Central Market & Food Centre is home to perennial stalwarts Xi Xiang Feng, Centre Satay Bee Hoon, and Hup Hup Minced Meat Noodles.
Here’s our top few picks.

Table of Contents
#1 – Hup Hup Minced Meat Noodles
Introduction: Hup Hup Minced Beef Noodle is notable for its non-small cell lung cancer noodles topped with round jelly crackers. Cloned Yunnan lung meat noodles are competent at this Bak Chor Mee, but not as traditional by which I imply with vinegar and the mandatory extras. Noodles were slightly better starchier, which complement the improvement of thin sauces.

#2 – Xi Xiang Feng Yong Tau Foo
Introduction: I always dread the 30minutes queue, but this YTF store is undoubtedly one of the best in Singapore. On top of their light, savoury soup brewed from beans and anchovy stock, they also deep-fry the fried dishes you have selected. The staff would ask if you’d like kangkong and beansprouts when you’re ordering your food.
Menu Items:
- Yong Tau Foo Soup ($0.60 – $1.00 each item) minimum of 5 items
- Yong Tau Foo Dry ($0.60 – $1.00 each item) minimum of 5 items

Introduction: Ang Mo Kio Fried Kway Teow has been operating at AMK Central for almost 40 years and continues to serve up scrumptious char kway teow to the residents around the area. Said to be one of AMK’s best-hidden gems, don’t be surprised to see a long queue as lines start to form up as soon as they open!

#4 – Lim Hai Sheng Cooked Food
Introduction: I ordered a plate of crispy carrot cake at $3. The portion is quite generous and the carrot cake & eggs smell very nice and looks nice too! This stall serves carrot cake in generous portion of eggs and main focus is the crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. The owner even set up stall during the Singapore Expo Food festival but the price is much more expensive. I rather buy & eat at hawker center. Even though there is a long queue when I ordered during weekends but I waited for about 10 mins hence their service is quite fast! As for the chilli, taste normal to me. I prefer to eat without the chilli as I can taste the original version of carrot cake ! Overall, is a must try for all crispy carrot cake lovers!

#5 – Centre Satay Beehoon
Introduction: The bee hoon here is soft and the cockles, cuttlefish, prawns, and pork slices have a bit of bite to them. These ingredients are slathered with generous amounts of nutty homemade satay sauce. The thick and rich sauce is well blended and moderately spicy. I can’t get enough of the peanut satay sauce and have it with the bee hoon. A plate of satay bee hoon is a generous portion.
Menu Items:
- Satay with beehoon (from $3.50 up)
- Satay without beehoon (from $4.50 up)

#6 – Ban Chuan Duck Rice
Introduction: Like their tofu and they have pig stomach inside as well. But the stunners were the braised egg which doesn’t soak in enough braising liquid at most places, as well as the incredibly smooth and soft pig skin. This sauce is even more unique than the duck’s one as there is a slight herbal undertone which isn’t too sweet yet is absolutely crucial to the sauce. Definitely worth a try and come early during lunch to avoid the crowds.
Menu Items:
- Braised Duck Rice ($3.00)
- Duck Meat Kway Teow ($3.00 – $4.00)

#9 – He Le Seafood White Bee Hoon
Introduction: The fish bites were exceptionally large and when they bit hard, they felt like firm barnacles. At such a low cost, how many seafood toppings this place had to offer was a pleasant surprise. The star of the show, however, was no doubt the noodles itself. Boasting an intense wok hei fragrance, the noodles were a flavour bomb when had together with the stock which came with a mild, briny taste.
